Superfoods are waiting for us in the produce aisle and their effect on our bodies is impressive. After talking with Yaakov Levine, Therapy practitioner and Nutritional Health Coach at Natural Grocers in Eugene, Oregon, Sue and Candace have been experimenting with other ways to bring more greens into their lives. From hydroponics to a simple sprout jar, indoor gardening is a key part of a nutritional supplement approach for the health conscience gardener.

We also discuss the fact that Romaine lettuce has been facing a national recall…again. The principles of monoculture and factory farming has a toxic dark side that is threatening our health. What now?

Herbs in the News – Studies are starting to pile up to support the notion that dark chocolate is delicious and effective reducer of stress and inflammation. This is a cause for both celebration and speculation.

After many years working in health care and in various capacities in the natural products industry Yaakov Levine, NTP, received his certification as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner in 2007 from the Nutritional Therapy Association. Yaakov has had his weekly “Nutritionally Speaking” column in a number of local weekly newspapers since 2007, and has had articles published in the Price-Pottenger Foundation Journal, in the Well Being Journal, and the NTA newsletter and Oregon Senior News. His feature and “In Health” articles have appeared in the quarterly Take Root-Willamette Valley magazine. Yaakov brings his passion for empowering others to find their own path towards optimum health to his writing, classes he teaches and his individual coaching sessions.
