Lavender Goodnight Spritzer Recipe

lavender in a field

The isopropyl alcohol in this spray acts as a preservative and helps the essential oils evaporate relatively quickly. In dry climates, like the Mojave Desert, you can reduce the amount of isopropyl alcohol considerably because the spray will be less likely to leave your linens damp. Lavender is a strong disinfectant on its own, so if dampness isn’t a concern of yours, you may be able to get away plain water in place of the isopropyl alcohol.

Ingredients

  • 10 drops Lavender essential oil
  • One ounce water
  • One ounce isopropyl alcohol (any concentration)

 Equipment

  •  2 ounce spray bottle
  •  Measuring cup
  •  Label and pen

Procedure

  1. Fill your spray bottle with one ounce of water and one ounce of isopropyl alcohol.
  2. Add 10 drops of lavender essential oil.
  3. Close the spray bottle and label it.

Storage and Use

Store your lavender spray in a cool, dark place, such as the drawer in your bedside table or dresser. It will keep for several years. When you need a bit of help falling asleep, such as during stressful times like competitions or the holidays, spritz your pillow just before going to sleep. You can also use this spray to help fight infection and help you sleep when you’re unwell. It is safe to use with childern, babies, and the elderly so long as they are not allergic to lavender.
